RYLA Senior Leaders

Picture
RYLA District 7255 is Youth led, and that starts with the Senior Leaders (formerly called the Youth Committee). A group of seniors who have climbed RYLA's ladder of youth leadership to the top, the Senior Leaders are charged with the coordination and execution of the many events throughout the year. From organizing activities at Summer RYLA, to training facilitators, to running the spring  conference, the Senior Leaders make RYLA happen.

Julia d'andrea

Julia D’Andrea is a senior at the Scholars’ Academy in Queens. As the representation for Queens in our RYLA 7255 program, she is determined to spread RYLA and its family oriented community throughout Queens and into Brooklyn. Being on the tennis, cheerleading, and STUNT team as well a part of many clubs, Julia is very involved in her school community and enjoys taking what she learns about being a leader at RYLA and applying it to her school life. Her favorite things to do are to joke around and hang out with her friends (especially the other SL’s) and going on road trips!! She hopes to to visit all 50 states one day. Most of all she can’t wait to see you all at this year’s RYLA events.

Brody Eggert

Brody Eggert is a senior at East Hampton High School. He has always found nature to be one of his biggest passions. He regularly spends his free time (not that he has very much of it) going paddle boarding, hiking or relaxing on the beach. While Brody loves being out in nature, he also has a passion for learning. Specifically, he is very passionate about history and science and hopes to combine the two in college. He plans to study International Relations with a minor in environmental science. Brody loves RYLA because the program helped him break out of his shell and make so many new friends while gaining valuable experience in leadership. He hopes to give this same experience to all the new RYLArians while also keeping them safe from the current global pandemic. Brody is extremely excited to work on this committee and build a safe, fun and educational RYLA for the future.

Another passion of Emma’s is RYLA! Emma is ready to give her all as a senior leader and make this year amazing. She hopes to maintain the impact RYLA has on young leaders and help RYLArians get out of their comfort zone!

Mattea rabeno

Mattea Rabeno is a senior at Port Jefferson High School. She values working hard academically, but really enjoys playing field hockey in the fall, being on a stage, and loves traveling to explore new places. She tries her best to volunteer with Interact and give back to others and RYLA has given her a chance to do that. Her friends and family are a huge part of her life and she is excited to get to know and expand her family at RYLA. RYLA is special to Mattea because it has shown her that in order to be a leader and influence others, being yourself is the best person you can be! It has taught her to set goals and how to achieve them as well. Mattea cannot wait to meet the next generation of this program and see how far they will come to be the wonderful leaders they are. Even with Covid-19, she is ready to give it her all and show that RYLA is ready to face these challenges and overcome them!

John Rodriguez

John Rodriguez is a senior at Walt Whitman High School. He enjoys an active healthy lifestyle taking part in many sports such as soccer, fencing, and track & field. When John is sitting still you can find him enjoying a good book, binging a new Netflix show, or drawing with his headphones plugged in! A huge part of John’s life is his friends and family, always trying to make new memories whenever he can! John is looking forward to putting his heart into one of the things he loves most, RYLA! His goals for his Senior Leader year is to have Rylarians walk out of the program a better leader, student, and person than when they walked in!

Julia Savino

Julia Savino is a senior at Smithtown High School West. She is very passionate about helping her community, but she especially loves to make those in the community with disabilities smile! From running the best buddies club at her school, to volunteering and raising money for organizations helping those with disabilities, she loves it all! When Julia is not at RYLA, you can find her at gymnastics or lacrosse, being a neuroscience geek, or blasting Frankie Valli in her ears! Julia is very grateful for the opportunity to be a senior leader, and hopes she can help others find a hidden part of themself just like she did with RYLA.
