Yean Franco-Marin

Chairperson

Yean’s RYLA journey began in 2014 as a high school sophomore, and his passion for the program has only grown stronger since. He proudly served as a Youth Committee member in 2015–16, continuing to build his leadership skills early on. As the first ever RYLA alumnus to step into the role of District Chairperson, Yean brings a unique first-hand perspective to the role. Over his time as Chairperson, he has actively recruited fellow alumni into leadership positions, building a team dedicated to evolving and modernizing the program for future generations.

Before stepping into this leadership role, Yean served as Alumni Chair from 2020-2023, where he jumpstarted key initiatives in mentorship, curriculum development, and application systems.

As Chairperson, Yean leads with a clear motto: to serve the community through meaningful, care-rooted initiatives that foster growth, inclusion, and transformation. His goal is to advocate for and empower young leaders, creating an experience that challenges students to rise, just as RYLA did for him. His dedication to investing in students remains his driving force.

Yean holds a B.S. in Media/Communications and an M.A. in Higher Education & Student Affairs from New York University. He currently supports student development at NYU Student Affairs, bringing his passion for leadership and community-building to campus life.

Yean credits the program not only for shaping his leadership style but also for inspiring his career path. He is excited to continue growing RYLA 7255 into a thriving, forward-thinking community where every student can have a truly transformative experience.
